The Memory Leak

It has been very hot here in San Antonio.  A lot of plants around our house are getting too much sun.  I think someone needs to write an app that allows me to take a KML model of my house (and trees) and produce a map that shows how many hours of direct sunlight different areas get.  This would need to take into account the shadows.  With such a map I could locate plants where they wouldn’t get fried.

Perhaps what Jeff Jenness has done with Solar Insolation could be done at a local scale, by adding a bit of ray tracing.
